These terms apply to your use of usgasgauge.com (“US Gas Gauge,” “we”). By using the site you agree to them.
What the site provides
US Gas Gauge publishes average retail gasoline and diesel prices, wholesale prices, tax rates, and forecasts compiled from U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) data, together with estimates, comparisons, and written analysis. The prices are averages for the U.S., regions, states, and metro areas. They are not the price at any particular gas station.
Accuracy and estimates
We take care to reproduce EIA data correctly, but we do not guarantee that any figure on the site is complete, current, or error-free. The EIA revises some data after publication, and there is a delay between an EIA release and its appearance here. Current prices for 41 states and the District of Columbia are our estimates, calculated from each state’s latest annual EIA average and its region’s weekly trend, as described on the About page. Forecast figures are the EIA’s and are subject to large revisions. Trip cost results are estimates based on the distance and fuel economy entered.

Content on the site is for general information. It is not financial, investment, trading, tax, legal, or travel advice, and should not be relied on for decisions where an exact or current price matters.
Using our content and data
The underlying price figures are U.S. government data. The CSV files on the gas price data page, including our compilation and inflation adjustments, are offered under CC BY 4.0 with attribution to usgasgauge.com. The site’s written articles, page design, charts, and logo belong to US Gas Gauge. You may quote short passages and share charts with a link to the source page. Do not republish articles in full or present the site’s content as your own.
Acceptable use
Do not use the site in a way that disrupts it or its hosting, such as high-volume automated requests to pages or to the trip calculator. To obtain the data in bulk, use the CSV downloads.
Third-party services and links
The site shows advertising served by Google and links to external sites, including the EIA and other sources cited in articles. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, ads, or services. How Google handles data is described in our Privacy Policy.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the extent permitted by law, US Gas Gauge is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, the site or its content.
Changes
We may update these terms. The current version is always posted on this page with its effective date.
